Amid growing speculation that his future may lie away from Tottenham Hotspur, midfielder Christian Eriksen has quashed talk of a January exit from the club.
However, the Dane also admitted that he is no closer to extending his stay in North London, in a worrying series of comments for club supporters.
Eriksen's current £70,000-per-week deal expires at the end of next season, and with many suitors lining up to whisk him away from Tottenham, the club will have to move fast to keep one of their key players.
After captaining Denmark for the first half of their 0-0 draw with Ireland this week, Eriksen spoke of his future.
He told the 'Mail Online': "There are so many reports… Don't believe them, not from what I know anyway." Yet when quizzed further on his future, Eriksen had no further comments to add either way.
It is widely known that European heavyweights Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus are closely monitoring the midfielder's sisutation at 'Spurs'.
Eriksen then continued by speaking of his current contentment at Tottenham Hotspur, in spite of stadium trouble disrupting their start to the season.
"We have always been happy at Wembley,"he said. "But of course, everyone wants to move into the new stadium. You can't move into a new stadium before it's finished, though."
The midfielder added: "We just have to wait until it's properly done. We know when that time comes it will be exceptional. People are getting their hopes up that it will be sooner rather than later, but it takes time, we just need to be patient."
When domestic action returns this week, 'Spurs' face a tough task, as they host Chelsea at Wembley in what is a much anticipated London derby.
Eriksen is in confident mood ahead of the game, and insists that Tottenham can are prepared for the tough few months ahead of them.
He told 'Sports Mail': "It's a big week but every month we have what you could call, "a season-defining period". These are big games against top sides and we have to be better than them. In the Champions League this is our last chance now to get through. Against Chelsea we have to stay up with those teams who are still unbeaten, so we have to approach that with the right mentality, to win the game."
