Daniel Sturridge's contract with Trabzonspor has been terminated by mutual consent just eight months into his three-year deal, according to reports.
Sturridge moved to the Turkish side in the summer having been released by Liverpool at the end of last campaign and signed a contract with them until the summer of 2022.
However, the Turkish club has now decided to end the relationship with the player.
He played the first 55 minutes of their game against Besiktas, although he did not score.
Sturridge has also managed to bag seven goals in his 16 appearances for them this season, while also contributing four assists. The former Chelsea and Manchester City man will not be able to sign for another side as a free agent right now unless they are in their transfer window.
He may, therefore, have to wait until the summer to move to another team, or make a move to North America, as the transfer window for Major League Soccer in the United States is open until May 5.
'The professional footballer contract signed between our company and our professional footballer Daniel Andre Sturridge, dated 21.08.2019 and ending 31.05.2021 has been mutually terminated,' a Trabzonspor statement read.
'In accordance with the termination agreement, the football player gave up all his forward-looking rights and receivables.'
